Other Documents
In addition to drawing-model pairs, drawing sheets, views and panel drawings, other documents may also be included in the building. You can manage these documents using the Other documents folder in the building’s document browser. When you create a new Vertex document (vxp, vxm) and select the option To project in the document data, the document appears in the Other documents folder when you save the building or update the document browser folder.
You can also create a subfolder in the Other documents folder where you can add drawings (vxp) or import other documents.
Open a document
- Open the document browser branch Other documents, and, if necessary, the folder below it.
- Do either of the following:
- Open a Vertex document (vxp, vxm) by double-clicking it.
- Open other document types by selecting the document and
Open from the right-click menu. The document is opened in the application associated with the file extension.
Copy a document
- Open the document browser branch Other documents, and, if necessary, the folder below it.
- Select the document.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Copy.
- Enter the file name. Type the name without the file extension.
- If the document is a Vertex drawing (vxp), the Document Information database view opens. Enter a Title to display the document in the building's document browser. Fill in the other document information, and click OK to confirm.
Rename a document
- Open the document browser branch Other documents, and, if necessary, the folder below it.
- Select the document.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Rename.
- Enter the file name. Type the name without the file extension.
- If the document is a Vertex drawing (vxp), the Document Information database view opens. Enter a Title to display the document in the building's document browser. Fill in the other document information, and click OK to confirm.
Delete a document
- Open the document browser branch Other documents, and, if necessary, the folder below it.

Add a new folder
- Move the cursor on the Other documents folder in the document browser.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select New folder.
- Enter a name for the folder.
You can add a subfolder to a folder you created by selecting the folder and New folder from the context-sensitive menu.
Add a new drawing to the folder
- In the document browser, move the cursor on the folder under the Other documents folder.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Add drawing.
- Enter the file name. Type the name without the file extension (.vxp).
The Document Information database view is opened.
- Enter the Title. The descriptive text is displayed in the document browser of the building.
- Fill in the rest of the document information.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
Attach file(s)
- In the document browser, move the cursor on the folder under the Other documents folder.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Attach file(s).
- Select the folder and the file in the Windows Open dialog box.
Copy and paste documents via the clipboard
You can copy a document in the Other documents folder or its subfolder of the active building to the clipboard, and paste it from the clipboard to the Other documents folder or subfolder of another building.
- Open the document browser branch Other documents, and, if necessary, the folder below it.
- Select one or more documents.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Clipboard > Copy.
- Open the other building.
- Select the document browser branch Other documents or the folder below it.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Clipboard > Paste.
