Save a Single Document as a PDF File

You can save a model or a drawing open in the working window as a PDF file in the following way:

  1. Select File > Print.
  2. Select from the Printer list:
    • PDF - Normal PDF.
    • PDF/A-1b - Suitable for long-term preservation (ISO standard PDF/A-1b).
  3. Select other print settings.
  4. Confirm by clicking OK.
  5. Select the folder in which the file is saved, and enter the file name.
  6. Click Save.
  7. If the setting Ask to open created PDF file is enabled, select one of the following:
    • Open file - The program opens the PDF file in the application associated with the file extension.
    • Open folder - The program opens the folder in which the PDF file was created in the Explorer window.
    • Cancel - The PDF file or folder is not opened.

You can enable or disable the setting in the drawing and model usage settings.

When printing a Vertex Wire Frame model or a drawing, you will get an image file with vector graphics. When printing a shaded model, you will get an image file with bitmap graphics. A Vertex Wire Frame image file will be considerably smaller in size than a shaded model image file.

Printing a shaded model may take a long time due to the numerous hues used in the model. A temporary PostScript file may require a large amount of file space, but the final PDF file will be smaller in size.

Note:
  • In addition, the basic software delivery includes the printer PDF_SEPARATE. This printer is significant only when you are printing a queue.
  • You can also select File > Save as. Select the Adobe Acrobat Files (*.pdf) as the save format.
  • You can save multiple drawings of a project as a PDF book, see Print PDF Sets.
  • You can save the Vertex drawings located in a folder and sub folders under it as a structured PDF book, see Print Structured PDF Book.
