Add or Change the Material of a Part

Add or change the material of a part. The same material will be added to all faces to which another material has not been selected separately. Select a material from the library or select a material by clicking it from the model. Once you have added a material to the part, the new selection will replace the old material.

A material cannot be deleted once it has been added, but it can be changed or the original OpenGL default color can be restored to the part.

  1. Do either of the following:
    • Open a part model.
    • Open an assembly model, and select one or more parts.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Rendering> Edit Rendering Material.
  3. Select the material selection method in the Rendering Material dialog box, or edit the material added to the face:
    • Select the material from the library by clicking the Browse button. Select the library and the folder, and double-click the material.
    • If you want to select a material from the model face, click Pick from surface. Click the model face, the material of which you want to select.
    • Select Edit. You can edit the parameters of a parametric rendering material. If the button is not shown, the part material is not parametric.

  • The browser shows the My Library (user's materials) and Vertex Library (software supplier's materials).
  • The texture of some materials is displayed in the OpenGL shaded model.
