Edit an Imported Model in Vertex
A model created using other CAD software can be imported in the SAT, STEP, or IGES format, for example. You can import a model by using the Open File function.
The model that opens in the window is a part, which has a base feature. The model does not have a feature history. Vertex models will have no feature history, if it has been specifically deleted using the feature tree function.
You can edit a base feature of an imported model by using the following functions:
- Move a Base Feature
 - Deleting a Feature
 - Changing a Feature
 - Moving Points
 - Editing a Bend Table
 - Surface Modeling Operations

Note:

You can use the Show Geometry Tip in Cursor function to identify surfaces in a model you import into Vertex.
 - You can repair and improve the geometry of a part model using the Heal function. The aim is to correct the geometry into a form that allows the model to be edited and/or for the modeling to be continued with Vertex.
