Fix Direction

When you are drawing a line in a sketch by using the cursor direction lock, the software sets a direction constraint to the line. An arrow next to a line drawn in for example 45° or 135° symbolizes the constraint.

The direction constraint is displayed in the constraints list, and you can edit it by using the context-sensitive menu functions. You can also set a formula that sets the directional constraint according to a table.

Add a direction constraint

You can lock any line’s direction in a sketch.

Select a line.
Select the context-sensitive function Constraints > Fix Direction.

Delete a direction constraint

Select one of the following:

Select a direction constraint from the list and select a function Delete.
Select the arrow symbol next to a line and remove it.
Select the line and the context-sensitive menu function Constraints > Release direction.

Note:

You can prevent the cursor from snapping in the direction of the ruler by pressing the Alt key, for example when drawing a line.
You can hide symbols and set them visible by pressing the key F9. This does not apply to dimension constraints.
