Support Library

Piping Design

Since version 30.0 (2024), supports are in their own library, which has its own function for editing and viewing. The function is available on the System tab Libraries .

  • For supports, the standard library includes a primary bracket library according to PSK standards.
  • The primary support library database contains the fields required for using dimension-driven generic support items.
  • The primary support data in the library is viewed and edited via the primary support library database view.
  • The MIN_DN and MAX_DN fields in the primary support library database define the support-specific pipe size range. A support can be connected with either a dimension-driven modeled component (part or assembly) or alternatively, the support can also be created via a parameter program. In modeled components (part or assembly), the dimension table row corresponding to each pipe size is stored with the *-DNxxx suffix.
  • The related modeled components of the primary support library are not located in the same complibs directory, but in the general components directory (system/shared); components\Plant\Primaarikannakkeet (fin) or components\Plant\Primarysupports (eng).

Note:
  • In the slide support row, in the STOPPER field, the suitable stoppers are defined using codes separated by the '|' character. The suitability of the stoppers is also checked separately from the stoppers' own rows according to the selected pipe size, because within the slide support's MIN_DN → MAX_DN range, the stoppers' own MIN_DN → MAX_DN range can vary according to their own standard.
  • In the primary support library database, the permitted load classes for hanger and spring supports can be set in the LOAD_CLASS field. The permitted load classes can be presented either taking into account the smallest permitted DN sizes, such as DN10-1-2|DN50-2-3.5|DN100-3-8|DN350-4-15|DN500-5-22, 1-2|2-3.5|3-8|4-15 or freely without DN sizes, such as 1-2|2-3.5|3-8|4-15). The last number after the - sign indicates the maximum permitted load per load class in kN.
  • In some situations, pipe clamps are also used at the top for hanger and spring supports, such as according to the PSK standard when the top is fixed with YK5. The selection of the size of the top clamps can be controlled separately from the support insertion tool strip, if the string DN2=? is set in the PARAMS field of the support row in the support library database. In this case, the top DN size and diameter are displayed on the tool strip and the Click button next to the DN size field is activated. By default, the same DN size is used for the top and bottom clamps, but the Click button allows you to change the size by clicking the desired pipe in the model. By clicking an empty area in the model, you can also select a size from the database.
