New Document Data

Defines the type, name, saving location and item data for a new document.

Dialog Box Options

Document type
Defines the type of the new document. Select Part, Assembly or Drawing.
Document type determines whether part modeling, assembly modeling or drafting functions are available in the working window's context-sensitive menu or toolbar.
You can select the radio button Assembly only when the Advanced 3D Modeling add-on feature is available to you.
Label
Defines a label for the document. Name the document without an extension (vxp or vxm).
Naming a Document
You can leave the document unnamed and just select a document type. The new document's label in the working window tree will be the selected document type, Part or Assembly. You can later store the document with the > Save function or leave the document unsaved by closing it.
WG document
This feature is not used in the Vertex BD application.
To project
If you wish to save the document in a project, select To project. Add to archive will then also be selected.
If you have not yet opened a project or wish to create the document for a project other than the one currently open, activate the old project:
  1. Click the Select button.
  2. Fill in the search criteria in the Project Search Data dialog box. You can define one or more search terms. You can shorten a search term with an asterisk (*).
  3. Confirm by clicking the OK button.
  4. Select the project from the list. The project becomes active and you will be returned to the New Document dialog box.
If the document does not belong to a certain project, leave the To project checkbox unselected.
WG connection
This feature is not used in the Vertex BD application.
Add to archive
Defines the archive as the document's saving location. In this case, the document can be used in several different projects.
Click the Archives Data button and enter the preliminary archives data for the document. This function is available when you are creating a document in the archive.
In the Archives Data dialog box, you can enter, for example, the document name, designer, creation date and the document type (part/assembly). The data can be edited and complemented later.
If you create a new item to match the part or assembly you intend to model, click the Item Data button and fill in the item data. This function is available when you are creating a document in the archive and the own item data specification is in use.
Add to file
Defines the saving folder for a file, model file (vxm) or drawing file (vxp), which you can select from the folder structure by clicking the Browse button.
If you have not activated a project and you do not select the folder, the file is saved in the general document folder Shared/picts.
Local
Select the checkbox when modeling a local part. This function is available when you are modeling a new part in an assembly.
Location
Shows the document's directory path in the directory tree, in accordance with the data you specified for the document.
