Save a Model to a 3D PDF File
3D PDF converter
You can save a Vertex model as a 3D PDF file. When you open the file in Adobe Reader, click the document to activate it. After that, you can rotate the model by left-clicking and moving the mouse. The 3D PDF Converter is an add-on option of the Vertex BD software.
Save a Vertex model as a 3D PDF file as follows:
- Activate the model window.
- Set the model to the desired view. The view is saved as the opening view in the PDF file.
If the opening view is a limited model, the parts outside the limits are not saved in the PDF file.
- Do either of the following:
- Select > Save As.
- Press Ctrl+E.
The Save As dialog box opens.
- Select the Adobe Acrobat Files (*.pdf) file type.
- Select pdf 3d from the Version list.
- Select the saving location. Do one of the following:
- Confirm the default save folder, which is the building folder.
- Select another folder using the common Windows dialog box functions.
- Select the saving location from the Directory list and click the Go button to open the selected folder.
- Enter a name for the file in the File name field.
- Click the Save button. The Other Views Dialog Box opens.
- Make the following selections:
- Select the views to be saved in the 3D PDF file. Select the checkbox of the desired view in the dialog box.
- The building components hidden in the model are saved by default to the 3D PDF file, and you can restore them by using a function in the Adobe Reader, if necessary. If you don't wish to save the hidden components, select the check box Save only visible parts.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
Note:
- Use the latest version of Adobe Reader software (Adobe Reader X).
- You can save custom views in the Other Views dialog box.
- You can limit the visibility of the model and save the limited view. If you want to save limited views to the PDF file, select an unlimited model as the opening view. Note that only the first set limits of each view is saved in the PDF file.
- Only a light in the viewing direction is transferred to the 3D PDF file. The light source is above and to the right. The brightness of the light is similar to a shaded view. Eye, point or spot lights added to the model are not transferred to the 3D PDF file.
