Open an Energy Report in Excel

The program collects initial data for energy calculations in an energy report in XML format. The report is saved in the building folder as energy.xml. You can export the file to an external energy calculation software. The initial data that Vertex BD generates include the volume and area data of the building, the U values of the building components and the compass directions of windows and doors.

You can open the energy report in Excel from the building document browser. Sorting data and the layout of the report is defined in a template report which is an xlsx file. The basic software delivery includes a preset template report saved in a component library.

  1. Move the cursor to the Energy Calculation header in the document browser.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Open with Excel.
  4. Select the library, selection group and template report in a dialog box. The basic software delivery includes a preset template energy report saved in a component library.
  5. Confirm by clicking OK.

The report is opened in Microsoft Excel. The file is saved in the building folder. You can open the report also in the building's document browser: open the Reports branch in the document browser, and double-click the name of the report.

Note:
  • The energy.xml file is updated when you update or redefine a zone. The changes are updated to the Excel report when you reselect the Open with Excel function.
  • If you wish to edit or create new template reports, create a template report library of your own. You can create new template reports by using the template reports of the system as an example. See Edit the Template Report Library.
