Import a DWG File

You can import a DWG drawing by opening a file or reading it as a reference drawing. You can import multiple DWG drawings by performing a batch conversion.
  • Open a DWG drawing using drag-and-drop method or the function > Open File. When you open a DWG, DXF or DGN file, select whether you wish to open the file as a 2D drawing or a 3D model. Select Dwg Conversion Setup
  • To read a DWG drawing as a reference drawing, select Drafting | Tools | Reference Drawings > Reference Drawing or Model. Select Dwg Conversion Setup
Note: The next time you open the drawing, the DWG import options dialog box reopens. You can prevent the dialog box from opening by freezing the reference drawing. After that, the reference drawing is not updated even if the original drawing has changed. See Load a Reference Drawing.
  • Perform a batch conversion by using the function > Import > Batch import dwg/dxf.
Note: If Meters is selected as the site location representation method in the building coordinates, a dialog box opens in the DWG file conversion where you can select to move and rotate the drawing geometry, and select the drawing scale. See Move and Rotate Geometry.
