Reference Part
General
- A reference part is a concept that allows you to define a part that contains only control or auxiliary geometry.
- A reference part is auxiliary geometry that allows you to control the positioning of parts in an assembly, for example.
- When using skeleton technology, the skeleton is a typical reference part.
Defining a reference part
- You can define any local part as a reference part. The part properties include the option “Reference Part”. Once you have defined a part as a reference part, its icon in the assembly tree becomes black.
- As a geometry, a reference part is equal to any other part. However, it has the following features:
- a reference part does not appear in any parts lists
- a reference part cannot be machined with machining tools
- a reference part does not appear in the drawings
- a reference part is not transferred when exporting the file to other systems
- not considered in the collision detection
