Assembly Lightweight Model
This function can be used to create a lightweight model of an assembly by combining assembly parts with Boolean operations or by modeling a new, simple geometry to represent the original model. The lightweight model is saved in the assembly model.
The assembly lightweight model can be opened for editing from the original model. In the editing mode, a separate feature tree opens for the lightweight model and its symbol is marked with an S extension. The original assembly is displayed as whole or with parts hidden. The lightweight model is created by combining parts selected from the assembly using Boolean operations or by modeling a simple geometry to represent the original assembly. The geometry of the original assembly acts as an external reference of the lightweight model. Leightweight Model
Create an assembly lightweight model as follows:
- Move the cursor over the assembly label in the assembly tree.
- Select the context-sensitive function Edit lightweight model. The original assembly is displayed as whole or with parts hidden.
- Do one of the following in the editing mode:
- Select parts in the assembly, and the context-sensitive function Boolean.
- Model a new, simple geometry to represent the original model. Use elements of the original model as external references in modeling.
- Leave the lightweight model empty.
- Select Confirm.
- Save the model.
Update the Geometry Changes of the Assembly Model in the Lightweight Model
You can update changes made to the geometry of an assembly model by solving the lightweight model. You can do this when the lightweight model contains external references to the original model. Otherwise, you must model the lightweight model to match the changes.
- Open the lightweight model of an assembly for editing.
- Select the context-sensitive function Solve.
- Select the context-sensitive function Confirm.
- Save the model.
