Document Management Principle
Vertex G4 Mechanical Engineering software uses the basic standards of technical design.
- Drawing numbers and model numbers are unique.
- There cannot be two different documents with the same number, even in different project folders.
Where are the documents saved?
Documents are saved locally in the G4 archives.
- Model documents are saved in the model archive.
- Drawing documents are saved in the drawing archive.
- The archives are also used for the revision management of models and drawings.
- Project data is saved in the project archive.
The model archive and drawing archive contain references to the saving location of each document. The saving location is either of the following:
- Project
- The Vertex folder picts
Documents are saved in the picts folder when the project is not active (open).
Benefits of document management
- Errors where several different documents have the same number are avoided.
- When a new document is created, Vertex always checks that the specified document name is not already found in the model or the drawing archives.
Note:
- Documents saved in the archives are managed using Vertex databases.
