Add and Update a Framing
Framer, Floor Framing & Rafters
Generate a framing in the FRAMING type layer of a horizontal structure. The framing tool selected for the layer defines the cross sections of the parts and the joist spacing.
- Select a structure and a layer of type FRAMING.
Select a Structure and a Layer
If you want to add parts to all the layers in the structure (sheathing, boarding) which have a framing tool, select only the structure.
- Do either of the following:
- Select Plane Structure | Framing | Generate Parts.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Generate Parts.
The program will create the 3D geometry of the framing in the framing model. As a default, the framing is created so that it is in the direction of the y axis and its origin point is in the middle of the horizontal structure. The origin point is the point from which the joist spacing is started. You can change the direction of the framing and move the origin point by editing the framing field, see Edit Framing Fields.
You can also generate parts to all the layers in a structure as follows:
- Select Modeling | Panel | Floor Generate Parts.
- Select the structure.
- Select Confirm.
Note
- You can divide the framing into fields and select the properties for the fields with the function Edit Framing Fields. When the framing has been edited, regenerate the parts.
- As a default, joints are formed between the parts of the framing when creating the framing. If necessary, you can create the framing without joints by setting the keyword framing_joint_mode= 0 in the keyword group BDSXX.
- If one or more floor or roof panels have been defined in the basic layer of the area, you can only generate parts to panels. This way, creating overlapping framings (of panel and horizontal structure) is prevented. The restriction applies when the keyword framing_filter= 1 is defined in the keyword group BDSXX.
