Import a File to Vertex
You can import a drawing or model file of some other type to Vertex BD software as follows:
- Select > Open File.
- Select the file type from the Files of type list:
- AutoCAD Drawings (*.dwg)
- AutoCad Models (*.dwg) - Requires the 3D DWG Importer add-on feature.
- DXF Files (*.dxf)
- Binary DXF Files (*.dxb)
- Design Web Format (*.dwf)
- IGES Files (*.igs)
- SAT Files (*.sat)
- 3DS Files (*.3ds)
- IFC Files (*.ifc) - Requires the IFC Link add-on feature.
- STL Files (*.stl)
- HPGL Drawings (*.hpgl, *.hgl)
- TIFF Images(*.tif, *.tiff)
- Red Pen Files (*.vxr)
- Select the folder from the Look in list.
- Select a file in the folder.
- Click the Open button.
- When you open a DWG, DXF or DGN file, select whether you wish to open the file as a 2D drawing or a 3D model.
- If necessary, select the import settings of the file type.
- The file opens in a new drawing or model window. If necessary, save the file as a Vertex 2D drawing or model by using the function > Save As.
Note
- A drawing or model created like this is basic geometry (line, point, surface, volume). It does not include information about the materials or quantities of building components. The material data requires the building to be modeled by using the building components of Vertex BD.
- You can also open a file using the drag and drop method.
