Dimensioning a Beam Pocket in a Log Work Drawing

You can add horizontal and vertical dimensioning for a beam pocket in a log work drawing by editing the dimensioning settings of the log work drawing. First, add an index for dimensioning to a beam pocket macro in the machining library.
- Add an index for dimensioning in the machining library.
- Define horizontal dimensioning.
- Define vertical dimensioning.
Note
- A beam pocket is created when you create a joint between a beam and a log wall, see Connecting a Beam to a Log Wall.
Add an index for dimensioning in the machining library
- Select System | Libraries | Libraries. The Component Libraries database view opens.
- Move the cursor on the row LOGMACH_SYSTEM Log Wall Machinings.
- Click the Edit Library button. The Log Machining Macro Components database view opens.
- Move the cursor over the Beam Pocket row.
- Select the Machining Rules tab of the database view.
- Enter POCKET, for example, in the Index for Dimensioning field. You will use this index when defining the dimensioning in the log work drawing's dimensioning settings.
- Close the Log Machining Macro Components database view by clicking the OK button.
- Close the Component Libraries database view by clicking the OK button.
Define horizontal dimensioning
- Select System | Libraries | Walls Log Wall Drawing Dimensioning Settings. The Log Wall Dimensions database view opens.
- Add a row in the database by pressing Shift+Ins.
- Define the dimension properties:
- Enter a label text for the dimension line in the Label field, that will be added in the log work drawing, for example BEAM POCKET.
- Select DIMENSION from the Automatic list.
- Select 1 from the In Use list.
- Enter a description for the dimension in the Description field.
- On the Rules tab, enter the dimension line offset from the top or bottom of the wall in the Rule 1 field, for example 300.
- Enter the dimension line label's location and offset from the wall edge in the Rule 3 field, for example -300.
- Enter the codes of the wall parts to be dimensioned in the Rule
4 field. For example, the following definition will dimension the beam
pocket and wall ends: pocket,WE
Note that 'pocket' is written in lowercase. A dimension line will therefore not be added, if there is no beam pocket in the wall.
- Select the parameters for the reference line, dimension unit and dimension text on the Dimension Line Parameters tab.
- If you also want to define the vertical dimensioning, do not close the database view. Otherwise, you can close the database view by clicking the OK button.
Define vertical dimensioning
- With the Log Wall Dimensions database view open, add a new row in the database by pressing Shift+Ins.
- Define the dimension properties:
- Enter a label text for the dimension line in the Label field, that will be added in the log work drawing, for example BEAM POCKET.
- Select VERTICAL from the Automatic list.
- Select 1 from the In Use list.
- Enter a description for the dimension in the Description field.
- Enter MACROS in the Rule 1 field on the Rules tab.
- Enter the codes of the wall parts to be dimensioned in the Rule 4 field. For example: POCKET, WE.
- Select the parameters for the reference line, dimension unit and dimension text on the Dimension Line Parameters tab.
- Close the database view by clicking OK.
Note
- System tab is only available if you are a system administrator.
- The program will save the changes made in a user-specific database. If the database is not found in the Custom folder, it is first copied from the System folder. Confirm the copying by clicking Yes in the message box.
