Generate Utility Holes

Piping Design

You can generate holes in framing or sheathing components, based on a pipe or duct line you have added previously.

  1. Select Modeling | Pipe Generate Utility Holes.
  2. Select the line type from the list. You can select all types or clear all of the checkboxes by clicking the All/None button.
  3. Confirm by clicking OK.
  4. Select the object type from the list (for example, wall panel, floor, roof). You can select all types or clear all of the checkboxes by clicking the All/None button.
  5. Confirm by clicking OK.
  6. If you selected wall panels as the object type, select the panels to be processed from the list.
  7. Confirm by clicking OK.

The program collects the pipe or duct profiles of the selected type from the model and adds holes to those framing components and sheets that the profiles cut. The holes are displayed in the panel drawings. Update the existing panel drawings when the holes have been generated.

  • Various pipe or duct line types are defined in the system settings with the keyword pipe_class:

    The keyword options are as follows:

    • TYPE, the type of the line. The types are set in the PROPPROP files of the profile libraries with the keyword mat_param= S.PIPE_CLASS TYPE.
    • DESCR, the description shown to the user in the selection list.
    • NUM, sequential number. If you are using 2D wall paneling, the sequential number must correspond with the definition in the joint component library (wpnl_conn).
  • You can also use the clash_after_solve keyword to set the holes to be generated in conjunction with option solving.

    The keyword can have the following values:

    • 0: Holes are not generated, default value
    • +1: Holes are generated in conjunction with option solving
    • +2: Holes are generated in conjunction with option testing
    • +4: The user will be asked whether to generate holes in conjunction with option testing

    Holes are not generated in conjunction with the preliminary solving of options

Note

  • The pipe or duct line must be in a framing model (FRAMING).
  • First, create the parts of the wall panel or framing area. Update the panel drawings when the holes have been generated.
  • Only the profiles and sheets belonging to a panel or framing area are taken into account when generating the holes.
