Print PDF Sets
Architectural, Framer
You can save the drawings of the active project as a PDF file. The drawings to be saved are defined in the PDF output settings, where various drawing sets have been created of the project's drawings. Each drawing set is saved in a PDF file of its own. The file type can be regular PDF, or PDF/A suitable for long-term preservation (ISO standard PDF/A-1b).
Following drawing sets are included in the basic software delivery:
Group name | Drawings included in the set |
STRUCTURAL | Structural plans such as wall panel layout and panel drawings. |
ARCHITECTURAL | Architectural plans such as floor plan drawings, section drawings, elevation drawings, etc. |
DET_PROJ | Detail sheets of the details used in the project. |
DET_LIB | Details sheets of the details in the detail archive. |
The drawings included in each set are defined in the PDF set settings.
Create a PDF file of the project's drawings as follows:
- Select > Export Print PDF Sets.
- Select the drawing set from the Set list.
- Select either of the following from the Type list:
- PDF - Normal PDF.
- PDFA - Suitable for long-term preservation (ISO standard PDF/A-1b).
If the type has not been selected, normal PDF is the default.
- If necessary, select drawings from a list (depends on the selected group and its settings).
The program saves the PDF file in the project's Pdf folder with the selected drawing set name, for example STRUCTURAL.pdf. If the viewer program Acrobat Reader is installed in your system, Vertex starts the program and opens the PDF file in it.
When the PDF file is created, the program checks the suitable sheet size for each drawing. The first sheet on the following list on which the drawing fits, is selected:
- A4 Portrait
- A4 Landscape
- A3 Portrait
- A3 Landscape
- A2 Portrait
- A2 Landscape
- A1 Portrait
- A1 Landscape
- A0 Portrait
- A0 Landscape
Note
- You can save the Vertex drawings located in a folder and sub folders under it as a structured PDF book, see Print a Structured PDF Book.
- You can easily save a single model or drawing open in the working window as a PDF file, see Save a Single Document as a PDF File.
-
The program checks the status of the project’s panel drawings before printing the PDF set.
- If all panels do not have a panel drawing, or the drawings are not up-to-date, the program will remind you about this in a message box. You can still proceed to PDF set printing.
- If a panel has a temporary panel drawing file in the project’s Tmp folder, but the project has not been saved, the program will remind you about this in a message box. You can select to save the project, and proceed to PDF set printing.
- If you select to print a panel drawing that does not have a source file or the file is not up-to-date, the file will not be printed. You will receive a list of the drawings in a message box.
If necessary, you can create or update the panel drawings by using the function Check Panel Drawing Status.
