The New Project Dialog Box

Define the properties of a new project in the dialog box.

Project use
Select one of the following:
  • Building - A project for designing a building model.
  • Building group - A project for designing a building group. You can later add the building group to any building model. When you select building group as the project use, the project's saving location is automatically BLDG_GROUPS.

Project id
Enter a label for the new project, with an up to 16 character-long alphanumeric string. Some special characters are allowed in the label. In the label, the following characters are allowed:
  • letters: a-z, A-Z
  • numbers from 0-9
  • special characters: underscore (_)
Project id, if the add-on feature DesignStream Interface is available
When the DesignStream interface add-on feature is available to you, and you have logged into the DesignStream system, you can retrieve a label for a new project from the DesignStream system.

Name
You can type a descriptive name for the project in the text field. The name is not obligatory.
Store in
Select the project folder saving location from a list. The program will populate the list with all ms_volume entries in the ../user/SETUP file that contain a sub folder named "projects” in their directory path. The default saving location is defined in the ../user/SETUP file under the keyword project_ms. The keyword value should be an ms_volume definition.
When you are creating a new building group, the saving location is automatically BLDG_GROUPS.
When you are creating a new project template, select TEMPLATE as the saving location (the ../shared/template directory). You can then select the project as the basis for a new project from the template list, if the Template radio button is selected in the New Project dialog box.
Based on
A project can be based on a standard project (template), a project in the local archive or a project in the DesignStream system. All folders, databases and files are copied from the selected base project to the new project.
  • Template - The project will be based on a template project. Select the project from the list or by clicking Browse. The template projects are customer-specific.

    Setting the Default Template Project

  • Local project - The project will be based on a previously created project in the local archive. Select the project from the list or by clicking Browse.
  • DesignStream - You can select this option, if the DesignStream Interface add-on feature is available to you. The project will be based on a previously created project in the DesignStream system. Select the project by clicking Browse.
Update Layer Scheme
Changes may have been done to the layer scheme defined in the system settings, which have not been updated to the project on which the new project will be based on. By selecting Update Layer Scheme, you can reload the entire layer scheme from the system settings: layer names, visibility of layers and layer groups. In this case, the changes made to the settings of the layer scheme, for example new layer groups, will be updated to all drawings of the new project.
Following drawing files will not be updated:
  • Files in the project’s macros folder.
  • Files in the project-specific component library.
  • Files in the project-specific detail archive.
When you select Based on: Template, the selection will be saved. When you select Based on: Local project, the check box will always be cleared by default.

Get project data card from
If you are using a separate customer and order database, you can copy the project data card information from the system by clicking the Select button. Implementing this function requires customer fitting.
Note:
  • You can also create a new project based on an existing project by saving the project under a new name. In this case, only the fields Project id, Name and Store in are to be filled out in the dialog box.
