Texturing Floors and Ceilings

You can apply a texture on the surface of a layer of a floor or a ceiling using a 2D hatch. This allows you, for example, to create genuine-looking paneling on ceilings for the interior views of the building.

  1. Draw the basic hatch shape.
  2. Add the floor or the ceiling and select the texture properties.
  3. Select an accurate method of representation for the structure.
  4. Expand the layers to make them visible.
  5. Edit the texture properties.

Draw the basic hatch shape

You can use a hatch included in the default software delivery or draw your own shape.

  1. Draw the basic hatch shape so that the panel's inside surface faces upwards.

  2. Save the drawing file (*.vxp) in the folder ../custom/macros/areas.
Note:
  • The program will create a machining polyline by copying the basic shape one after the other.
  • The polyline may consist of individual lines as long as their endpoints coincide.

Add the ceiling and select the texture properties

  1. For example, select Modeling | Floor, Roof | Ceiling.
  2. Select the library and the group.
  3. Select a suitable ceiling structure with paneling.
  4. Select a paneling layer in the Layers list. The parameters of the layer are shown in the list below. If the parameters are not visible, open the context-sensitive menu in the parameter list, and select Show all parameters.
  5. Open the branch Surface properties.
  6. Type the name of the drawing file in the Texture file field (only the file name without path).
  7. Click OK to close the dialog box.
  8. Add the floor or the ceiling in the usual manner.

Select the accurate presentation method

Texturing is displayed only with the accurate method.

  1. Select the horizontal structure.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Presentation > Accurate.

Expand the layers to make them visible

Texturing will be visible in the model only after the layers have been expanded.

  1. Select the horizontal structure.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Expand Layers.

Edit the texture properties

You can edit the texture properties as follows:

  1. Select the horizontal structure.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Properties. A dialog box opens.
  4. Select a paneling layer in the Layers list. The parameters of the layer are shown in the list below.
  5. Open the branch Surface properties.
  6. Edit the parameters. See more about the texture properties: Layer Parameters of a Floor or Ceiling.
  7. Click OK to close the dialog box.
