Wall Conversion Rule

IFC Converter

Define a rule for converting IFC walls to Vertex BD walls.

Converted ifc types
Select the ifc types for which this rule will be used:
  • IfcWall
  • IfcWallStandardCase
Conversion
Click Select wall, and select a wall to which the IFC walls of the selected type will be converted from the wall library. In the conversion, the wall height will be determined by the IFC model.
If the wall is placed incorrectly (exterior side inwards) in conversion, edit the rule and select Mirror. Convert the objects again.
By default, Automatic connections is selected, which means that the conversion will attempt to connect the walls to the surrounding walls if it is possible to form a connection. You can prevent this by clearing Automatic connections.
By default, Copy shape from IFC wall is unchecked, so the height of the frame layer of the converted wall is the height of the IFC wall, and the heights of the bottom and top edges of other layers relative to the frame layer are read from the wall library. Select Copy shape from IFC wall if you want the layers of the converted wall to follow the IFC wall shape.
Select how to position the converted wall. From the Reference line list, select whether the walls are aligned according to the interior or exterior surface.
If necessary, you can move the converted wall outwards by the distance entered in the Offset field.
Wall’s window conversion (not mandatory)
Click Select window, and select a window to be used instead of the window in the IFC model from the window library. The window size will be determined by the IFC model.
You can increase the width and height of the opening. Enter the dimensions in the Opening width offset and Opening height offset fields. The dimension will be divided equally between the two edges of the opening.
Wall’s door conversion (not mandatory)
Click Select door, and select a door to be used instead of the door in the IFC model from the door library. The door size will be determined by the IFC model.
You can increase the width and height of the opening. Enter the dimensions in the Opening width offset and Opening height offset fields. The dimension will be divided equally between the two edges of the opening.
