Customer-specific Environment
Vertex Sync
The Vertex Sync administrator can upload a custom environment (custom and shared/lw folders) from their disk to Vertex Sync, after which other users can enable the environment in Vertex BD.
There may be several environments, but only one environment at a time can be active for the user.
The active environment and its revision are displayed in the program's status bar next to the organization and username:
Upload a Customer-specific Environment to Sync
The function is available for the Sync administrator.

Create a New Environment in Sync the first time you upload the environment to Sync.
- Select Archives | Sync |

Upload Environment to Sync when you upload the changed environment to Sync. You can overwrite an old revision or make a new one.
The Upload a New Environment to Sync dialog box opens.
- Select Archives | Sync |
- When you upload the environment for the first time, enter a name and description for the environment.
- Select the files that will be uploaded to the environment. By default, all files are selected the first time you upload the environment. When you upload a changed environment, you can select only the files that have changed.
- Click Upload.
A window opens in the lower-right corner of the screen to display the progress of the upload. You can continue to work during the upload. When the upload is complete, the message "You may now close this window" appears in the window.
The environment is now active and used by the administrator. After this, other users can enable the environment in Vertex BD as described below.
Enable the Custom-specific Environment
- Select Archives | Sync |
Environments. The Environments dialog box opens. The list shows all environments available to the organization.
- The active environment is marked Active in the Status column.
- There may be several revisions of the environment in the Sync service. The revision in use is marked Currently in use in the Status column.
- Select the environment from the list.
- Click Set.
A window opens in the lower-right corner of the screen to display the progress of the download. You can continue to work during the download. When the download is complete, the message "You may now close this window" appears in the window.
- Once the environment has been downloaded, you will receive a message: "Environment was successfully moved. The application will now be restarted." Confirm by clicking OK. The program backs up the active environment.
- You will be prompted: “New environment “[name and revision of environment]” successfully applied! The application will now restart."
- Confirm by clicking OK.
- Wait until the program starts.
Download and Activate the Latest Environment
If the current environment revision has been updated in Sync, it will be marked Changed in Sync in the Info column of the Environments dialog box. The program will suggest that you deploy the changed environment the next time you start the Vertex BD application and log in to the Sync service. You can also download and activate the latest environment as follows:

Download and Apply Latest Environment. The Environments dialog box opens. The list shows all environments available to the organization.
- Select the environment from the list.
- Click Set.
A window opens in the lower-right corner of the screen to display the progress of the download. You can continue to work during the download. When the download is complete, the message "You may now close this window" appears in the window.
- Once the environment has been downloaded, you will receive a message: "Environment was successfully moved. The application will now be restarted." Confirm by clicking OK. The program backs up the active environment.
