Collect a Parts List from the Model

Collect a parts list from the model. The data is collected to the part's list.

  • The part archive data defined in the part properties and item data.

    The preform dimensions (Preform/Shape) and area (Quantity) of a composite sheet are calculated automatically, according to the overall dimensions and taking the direction of the plate into consideration, and updated in the material data. You can also collect a parts list without a drawing.

  • The item data defined in the assembly properties.
  • The extra parts defined in the assembly properties.
  • The parts of a subassembly will be included in the parts list of the main-level assembly if Explode to Parts List has been defined as a property of the subassembly.
  • Data of a product structure, if a part, library component or subassembly has been defined as an item in the product structure.
  • The 2D part number data added to the elements of the drawing.

The generated parts list can be output to the drawing sheet, or to an external application, for example to a text file, or to Excel for further processing.

G4Plant: Language selection of an Excel part list

You can select the template of an Excel part list in Finnish or English. If your software is in Finnish and you want to use the Excel part list templates in Finnish, do as follows:

  1. Update the Finnish software.
  2. Open in file explorer the software’s folder custom\forms and remove a folder and its contents ExcelTemplates.
  3. Restart Vertex.
Note:
  • This procedure is needed only once.

  • This operation is possible only in Vertex G4Plant software.

Make a bill of materials

  1. On the tab, in the Tools group, select Parts List.
  2. Define the parts list data in the dialog box:
    • Select the output format. Parts List Collection Data
    • Select the roll-out method in the Roll-out list.
    • Select the collection method of the parts list data, a certain configuration or all configurations, a table.
    • Click the Transfer to Product Database checkbox to move the part/assembly data to a product structure.
  3. Click OK. The part data is presented as a list.
  4. Edit the data of the parts, and select OK.

Updating a Bill of Materials

You can update a bill of materials collected to a drawing in the following ways:

  • Update drawing projections, part's list and title data by the function Update drawing. The archives data of the model is copied to the drawing after saving the drawing in the archive.

    Update a Drawing

  • The roll-out and collection methods of a parts list are saved drawing-specifically in the header of a table-format parts list. If you refresh a drawing by pressing the F5 key or selecting the View> Refresh function, the drawing is updated based on the selected roll-out and collection methods. The collection method changes if you select another roll-out method. Requires the keyword value set.refresh.plist= 1 in the user/Setup settings file.
  • If a drawing is included several parts lists, you can update all parts lists by selecting the Update function or press the F5 key. Implementing this feature requires a keyword definition set.update.all_plists= 1 in the user/Setup setup file.
