Make a Bill of Materials of a Model

Data from an archived model is collected to a bill of materials. The model can be an individual part or an assembly. Perform the following operations for creating a parts list:

  1. Part properties - Define archives data, part data and, if you wish, own item data for the part. We recommend defining at least the part code and name in the archives data. Archives data are updated in the part drawing sheet's header data. In an assembly drawing, the archives data of a part is collected into a parts list.

Material code, shape and dimensions, quantity, unit and, if necessary, density are defined in the part data. Weight calculation will provide a result that will be automatically added to the header area of the sheet in the part drawing. Mass is also calculated for those parts that are not collected on the assembly's parts list.

  2. Assembly properties - Define archives data and item data for the assembly. We recommend defining at least the assembly code and name in the archives data. Archives data are updated in the drawing sheet's header data.

You can define bulk items that are not geometrically modeled for the item data, such as glue, paint, fixings, etc. If the bulk item has weight, define it in the material data. It will not be taken into consideration in weight calculation.

Parts added to the assembly and non-modeled parts are represented as assembly's item data. You cannot edit the structure data.

Weight calculation of the parts belonging to the assembly will provide a result that will be automatically added to the header area of the sheet in the assembly drawing.

  3. Drawing sheet - A drawing sheet must be added to a drawing in order to bill of materials can be printed out. It is added as a symbol to the drawing.
  4. Part numbering - First, the assembly parts in the drawing are automatically numbered in a table in which you can edit the numbers before clicking their positions in the drawing. If a part has not been numbered, it will be displayed as number 0 in the parts list of the part drawing.
  5. Making a bill of materials - Finally, select the Collect parts list function and output to drawing. The model data is collected in the header area of the drawing sheet and the parts list data. The assembly data can be collected according to configuration of an assembly, in which the hided parts are not collected.

Note, that the drawing is opened from the Browser Browser, collecting of the parts list do not absolutely work right. The data of the edited model do not update in the drawing, unless the drawing is not opened through the model
