Verify Angle
You can measure the angle between two elements. By default, the program will visualize the angle and its projections and will report the results in the dialog box, from which you can copy them onto the clipboard if you wish. The projection won’t be drawn and ‘-’ will be set as its value if the selected plane is not perpendicular or if the line changes to a point when viewed from the projection direction. Also, the program will draw an auxiliary line for lines that are not co-planar to help interpreting the results. If you select more element pairs, their measurement results will be displayed in addition to the previous ones both in the model and in the dialog box. The measured angles are numbered and the numbers are displayed in both the model and the dialog box.
The angle is calculated in different ways depending on what elements you choose. The different ways are explained in the following table.
Element | Measurement method |
---|---|
Straight line | The angle is calculated normally. |
Two points | A line is created between the two points. |
Circle or ellipse line | The angle is calculated based on the line's normal. |
Planar surface | The angle is calculated normally. |
Circle or cone surface | The angle is calculated based on the axis of the surface. |
Torus surface | The angle is calculated based on the axis of the surface (the center of the torus). |
Verify angles as follows:
-
Select Assembly/Part | Dimensions | .
- (OR) Select from the tool strip.
- If necessary, change the measuring tool settings in the Verify Distance dialog box.
- If necessary, limit snapping to elements to help you select the element you want. You can find the auxiliary functions for snap limiting at the top left corner of the model window. Limit Snapping to Elements in the Model
- According to the table above, select two elements that define the angle you wish to measure.
- Select more element pairs, if you wish.
- If you wish to clear the measurement results, select Clear.
- When you wish to quit measuring distances, select OK.
