Add a Dimension Line to a Panel Drawing
Framer
This function can be used to add a dimension line to a floor, roof or wall panel drawing, or to a truss drawing. When you edit a panel or a truss, dimensions added with this function are automatically updated when you open and update the drawing.
- Open the panel drawing.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Add Dimension to View.
- Select the view.
- Select the dimension line to be added in the database view as follows:
- Move the cursor over the desired row.
- Click the OK button.
- If necessary, select the start and end point, or the direction of the dimension line.
If you have added the selected dimension line on the same side (left, right, below or above) of the view earlier, you will be prompted: "Replace current dimensions?" Select either of the following:
- Replace - The dimension line added earlier is removed and a new one is added.
- Cancel- The dimension line added earlier remains unchanged, a new dimension line is not added.
Note
- Part of the dimension lines in a panel drawing are added automatically.
- Dimension lines added using the functions on the Drafting tab are not automatically updated when the panel drawing is opened and updated.
- You can check the name of a dimension line added to a panel drawing view by selecting the dimension and Properties from the context-sensitive menu. The name is shown in a prompt on the status bar.
- A structure layer to be dimensioned can be defined for a dimension line. For example, if the panel has several sheathing layers, you can add a dimension line of its own for each layer. The layer is defined in the dimensioning database by entering the parameter LAYER for the dimension line. The value of the parameter is a layer number, for example LAYER = 1.
