Attic Space
Architectural, Framer
This function can be used to add an attic space that has the shape of the opening limited by an edge line and has walls, a floor and a ceiling. The opening can be an opening that is limited by an edge line added to the truss envelope drawing of a standard truss, or an opening determined using frame truss parameters. You can open the truss envelope drawing of a standard truss using the Edit a Truss in a 2D Drawing function, and add the edge line of the opening using general drawing functions. You will need to remove the hatch pattern from the opening. Once you have defined the edge line of the opening, do the following:
- Select Modeling | Accessory Component | Component gallery Attic Space.
- Select the truss that determines the shape of the tube.
- Select the start point of the tube line. The reference point of the wall that will be selected in the tube attic parameters, will be positioned on the selected point.
- Select the end point of the tube line.
- Select the tube attic parameters in a dialog box.
Select the material of side walls, gable walls, the horizontal and sloped section of the ceiling and the floor by clicking the Select button. Select the materials from the structure libraries. By clicking either the Int or Ext radio button, you can select the inner or outer surface of the structure as the reference point of walls, i.e. the face following the edge line of the opening. Similarly, you can select either the bottom or top surface of the ceiling and floor as the reference point by clicking the Bot or Top radio button.
In the points where walls and the ceiling meet, you can determine how the structures will be overlapped by selecting either of the following radio buttons:
- Wall - the wall will be extended to the top surface of the ceiling
- Ceiling - the ceiling will be extended to the external surface of the wall
If you wish to extend the wall at the point where the gable wall and the ceiling meet, you can type the length of the gable wall extension in the text field.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
Note
- The default values in the dialog box have been defined with the tube_param keyword in the BDSXX keyword group of the system settings.
