Set a Building Component as Part of a Wall

You can set a building component as a part of a wall, or set a parent for the component. When you move the wall, the connected building component moves with it. If you have already defined a parent for the component, you can change it, or you can disconnect the component from its parent.

Set a Building Component as Part of a Wall:

  1. Select a component.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Set Building Component as Part of Wall.
  4. Select the wall to which the component is to be connected.
  5. Confirm the connection by selecting Yes in a message box.

Set the Building Component as Part of Another Wall, or Change the Component's Parent:

  1. Select a component that is set as a part of a wall.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Set Building Component as Part of Wall.
  4. Select Change in the message box.
  5. Select a new wall, to which the component is connected.
  6. Confirm the connection by selecting Yes in a message box.

Disconnect a Building Component From a Wall:

  1. Select a component that is set as a part of a wall.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Set Building Component as Part of Wall.
  4. Select Disconnect in the message box.
Note:
  • Windows and doors are automatically connected to the wall on which they are added. A parent is not needed to be set for them.
  • With this function, also a building component assembly can be connected to a wall. The assembly is selected by clicking one of the assembly components.
