Hatch or Shaft at Certain Height

You can add a desired size hatch or shaft to a wall panel at a certain height. You can choose whether the component punches the entire structure or only one side. The component affects the generation of the frame and sheathing. When you add parts to the panel, the program adds the frame parts around the component and cuts the sheet:
  • At the hatch, the program cuts the sheet so that a piece of the sheet remains at the hatch.
  • At the shaft, the program cuts a hole in the sheet.
If the component is located in the lower corner of a wall panel, no bottom plate or edge details are added around it.

You can add the component at a certain height to a wall panel either in the floor plan or in the model:

  1. Activate the drawing-model pair of the frame.
  2. Select Modeling | Panel | Wall > Framing Accessories.
  3. Select the folder Hatch.
  4. Double-click either of the following:
    • Hatch
    • Shaft
  5. Select the wall panel in the floor plan or in the model.
  6. Select the properties:
    • Header Height - Enter the distance between the top edge of the component from the bottom of the frame layer.
    • Dimensions - Enter the dimensions width x height of the component.
    • Punch - Select one or both depending on the component:
      • Hatch - The sheets outside the frame layer are cut when Punch Up/Exterior is selected. The sheets inside the frame layer are cut when Punch Down/Interior is selected. When you select both, the sheets on both sides of the frame layer are cut.
      • Shaft - By default, both the Punch Up/Exterior and Punch Down/Interior options are selected, allowing the component to punch the entire structure. An opening is cut in the sheets on both sides of the frame layer.
  7. Add parts to the panel.
Note: To resize the component, open its properties for editing.
