Horizontal Section View Settings
Select the settings for a horizontal section view in the dialog box.
- Height of the horizontal section
- Do either of the following:
- View depth
- Enter the depth of the section (mm). All objects in the view generation model that are between the section height and the section depth are included in the section. With a section depth of 0, all objects that are in the direction towards the model origin from the section point, are included.
- View generation model
- Select the view generation model from the list. The view generation model is generated from the building model. However, not all the building components added to the building model will necessarily be included in the view generation model.
- View label
- Enter a label for the view.
- View name
- Enter a name for the view.
- Horizontal section area
- Select either of the following:
- Entire building - The section view is generated from the entire model.
- Selected limits - Click the section area with two points. In the model, the easiest way to click the limits is in a top view projection.
- Update and open view
- Update the section view and open it in a drawing window. You can also update and open the view later, see Update an Individual View.
- Update view model

You can update the view generation model, when you have selected to update the view. Update the generation model, when you are creating the view for the first time, or when you have made changes to the building model. When you change the building model, save the model before updating the view generation model.
If you selected the entire building model MODEL.vxm in theView generation model list, you do not need to update the view generation model.
- Grid lines to section views
- You can show the lines of a grid added to the floor plan in the section view. The lines appear in the section view when you update the view. Read more about grids: Add a Grid.

The default drawing method of the view is wireframe. You can also select shading or Lightworks shading (requires the Rendering add-on option for the software) as the drawing method.
