Check Out a Building from the DesignStream System

DesignStream Interface

When you want to modify a building saved in the DesignStream system, download the building from the DesignStream server to your own local archive in the following way:

  1. Select File > Open building. The building browser opens.

  2. Select the folder DesignStream.

    The DesignStream storage location is displayed in the browser when you use the DesignStream data management system. The buildings saved in the system are shown in the folder when you are logged in to the DesignStream system.

  3. Select a building. If you want to open a version of the building other than the latest version on the server:
    1. Click the building row in the right-hand browser pane.
    2. Right-click and select Open Save.
    3. Select the save in a dialog box.
  4. Confirm by clicking OK.

    The status of the selected building on the server is checked. If the building is not checked out, it is loaded into the local archive and opened. If another user has already checked out the building from the server, you will see the following error message: [Buildings ID] is checked out by user [user name].

  5. If necessary, select the active drawing-model pair.

Once you have finished editing the a building, check it in to DesignStream system.

Note:
  • When you check-in the building and select the Overwrite existing version as the check-in mode, the building always replaces the last version regardless of the version which has been opened.
  • If you use sub models when designing the building, it depends on the value of the keyword check_out_flat_projects whether you will check out only the main model or also the sub models from the DesignStream system:
    • check_out_flat_projects= 0 - The default value. When you check out a main model which includes sub models, you will only check out the main model.
    • check_out_flat_projects= 1 - When you check out a the main model, you will also check out the included sub models. When you check in the main model, the sub models will be released. If another user has checked out a sub model included in the main model, you will receive an error message: [Buildings ID] is checked out by user [user name].

    Sub Projects is an add-on option of the Vertex BD software.
