Workspace
Vertex Sync
Workspace is an application that acts as an intermediary between the CAD program and the Sync service, and manages data transfer in both directions. Workspace works as a local workspace that is used to optimize file traffic.
Data transfer principle:
- The user downloads a working copy of the building from the Sync service to their own computer into the workspace.
- After editing, the building is exported back to Sync so that only the changed files are transferred.
Workspace and file handling:
- All building files (drawing and model files, drawing sheets, panel drawings, etc.) are cached in the workspace database.
- This allows the workspace to identify which files are new, changed, or unchanged when you export the building back to Sync.
- The building files can only be accessed from the CAD program's user interface via the document browser - they cannot be accessed in the Windows File Explorer.
- You can use the document browser to open, copy, and delete building files.
Note: The local workspace associated with the Sync service is different from the local archive, which is used to manage buildings when Sync is not in use.
