Open the Help Related to the Button Function

General

  • You can access the help related to a function from most parts of the Vertex G4 starting from version 2023 (29.0.00)
  • This requires that the software comes with the d_HELP database (= d_HELP and d_HELPc files).
    • The database can be found in the folder vxg4/system/dbases in standalone installations and in the folder vxg4_srv/system/dbases in server installations.
  • Due to the program's internal limitations (see at the end), it is not possible to open a function-related instruction for all functions.
    • In this case, the only way is to use Help, which also opens with the F1 key, and use the Search tab there and enter the command name shown in the user interface into the search field.
    • See Using Help

Open the button-specific help

  1. Hold down the Shift key and
  2. select a ribbon bar function or a context-sensitive function with the mouse selection button.
    • If there is an instruction connected to the function, it will be opened.
    • If there is no help connected to the function (inadvertently or help missing), you will be prompted: Command specific help was not found.
    • If the internal structure of the program prevents a possible help from opening, the function itself may start or nothing will happen.

Known functional and non-functional items

The situation has been confirmed with version 29.0.00 in September 2022, where the option to open button-specific instructions was added to the Vertex G4.
