Save a WWW Component in the software component library as follows:

  • Download the component from the Internet
  • Save the component in the library

Downloading a component from the Internet

It is easy to download a component from the Internet if you open the component supplier's web page from the software component library. If a project is active when you select the URL from the component library, the default directory when saving the WWW component will be the software project directory. Otherwise, the default directory will be the common drawing/model directory.

Download a WWW component as follows:

  1. In the working window, select the Add> Part from Component Library function. The model in the working window must be of the assembly type.
  2. Select the URL from the WWW directory of the component library by double-clicking on a thumbnail image. The desired web page is opened in the Web browser.
  3. Select the 3D component and the suitable file type, for example, SAT, STEP or IGES for downloading the component.
  4. Save the component using the browser's Save Target As function as follows:
    • Confirm the default directory or select another directory.
      • The default directory will be the active project directory, if a project is active when selecting the function.
      • If no project is active, the common drawing/model folder picts is the default folder.
    • You can rename the file if you wish. Naming a File
  5. Confirm saving the file.
Note:
  • If no URL is defined in the software component library, you can download a WWW component by opening the component supplier's web page using the browser's function. You must then specify the folder for the component when saving it. The default folder feature will not be available.
  • If the file is saved in a file format other than desired, check that the desired file type is registered in the Windows Explorer.

Saving to the Component Library

To be able to save the WWW component in the library, you must first open it in the working window. When the component is saved, the Browser thumbnail image file of the component is also automatically saved. Set the component to a suitable projection in the working window before saving the component. The file name you specify for the component when saving it is displayed as the name of the component below the thumbnail image in the browser.

Take account of the component's scale. If necessary, scale the component before saving it in the library.

Scaling a Part

Save the WWW component in the library as follows:

  1. Open the component in the working window with the File> Import function.
  2. Do either of the following:
    • Select the file type. The default folder feature is available if you have downloaded the component from a URL in the library.
    • Otherwise you need to select the folder and the file type.
  3. Select the document.
  4. Click Open or double-click the file name.
  5. Set the component to a suitable projection in the working window for saving.
  6. Select the context-sensitive function Save To Library> As Component.
  7. If necessary, create a new folder. Naming a Folder
  8. Select the folder to which you wish to save the component.
  9. Set the file type to: Vertex 3D Models (.vxm).
  10. Enter the file name. Naming a File
  11. Select Save.
