Add a Wall Next to a Log Wall
Log House Design
You can add a heat insulation layer to a log wall by adding another wall structure next to the log wall. A connection will be created automatically between the log wall and the extra insulation, meaning that:
- A window or a door added to the wall will cut an opening into both the wall and the insulation layer.
- If the thickness of the log wall is changed by changing the wall type, the insulation layer will be moved accordingly.
Add an insulation layer just like a regular wall.
- Select Modeling | Wall Layout | Wall Wall Next to Log Wall.
- Select a structure designed as extra insulation for a log wall from the wall library. In addition to the insulation layer, the structure may include, for example, panel siding.
- Before selecting the points of the insulation layer, you can use auxiliary wall adding functions. For example, you can select a closed wall chain or change the reference point of the wall.
- Select the points of the wall.
- Select Confirm.
Note
- If you add the insulation layer with the Modeling | Wall Layout | Wall function, no connection will be created between the log wall and the insulation layer.
- You can use the Log panel wall auxiliary function when adding an extra insulation layer and panel siding to an exterior log wall. The function can be used to define the panel height so that the siding looks like the existing log wall.
- You can select any auxiliary function while selecting the points of a wall chain. For example, you can change the presentation method of the wall in the model, change the reference point, select a closed or open wall chain, change the wall height data, etc.
