Rendering Materials in a Building Model
Rendering
The rendering materials for building component faces are determined in accordance with the material category defined in the component library.
For example, the material choices (vertical siding, horizontal siding, brick, plastering, etc.) for a wall siding layer are determined in the structural layer library for walls. The library sets a reference for each option, according to which the surface material presented in the model is defined. For example:
Siding | Material Category |
Vertical siding | WALL-EPANEL_1 |
Brick layer | WALL-E.FIN.BR |
Plastering layer | WALL-E.SID.STCO |
A default rendering material is set for each material category in the material link database (LWMAP). For example:
Material Category | Default Rendering Material |
WALL-EPANEL_1 | UTV painted |
WALL-E.FIN.BR | BRUSHED BRICK 10 |
WALL-E.SID.STCO | STUCCO, tan, dark |
The rendering materials, in turn, are defined in the rendering material library, using bitmaps, parameters and shading properties.
You can change the rendering material of a material category in the active building model using the following functions:
- Edit a Material by Volume
- Edit a Material in the Entire Model
- Edit the Rendering Material of a Layer
You can restore the default materials of the material categories later.
As the system administrator, you can edit the default rendering material set for a material category, using a system management function.
As a system administrator, you can add a new material to the rendering material library.
