Quick Section

This function can be used to create a section view of the building by selecting a section line in the layout drawing. The direction of the section is determined by the locations you choose for the start and end points of the section line. An arrow will indicate the direction of the section once you have selected the start point. All elements of the open model that lie between the section line and section depth (mm) are included in the section. With a section depth of 0 (zero), all elements that lie in the direction of the section from the section line are included.

The resulting section is a so-called quick section in which no hatch is added to layers or building components.

Create a quick section of a building as follows:

  1. Activate the 2D drawing.
  2. Select View | 3D View | Section View.
  3. Click the start point of the section line.
  4. Lock the cursor, if necessary.
  5. Select the end point of the section line.
  6. Select Confirm.
  7. Type section depth.
  8. Edit the section using the general drawing functions.
  9. Save the section view by selecting > Save.
Note:
  • You can add the cross section drawing on the drawing sheet, if you save it, for example, in the building folder of the building in question. Add a sheet to the new drawing. Add a drawing to the sheet, and select Drawing From This Building. Select the folder and the drawing file in the Windows Open dialog box.
  • The Vertex BD Architectural product includes the Define a Vertical Section function, which can be used to create a cross section drawing from a specifically defined generation model. A vertical section can be a regular section or a quick section.
