Spaces and Zones to the IFC File

Saving a model to an IFC file requires the IFC Converter add-on option.

When you export the model to an IFC file, you can select the object types Space and Zone (not selected by default) to be exported.

Save the Entire Model to an IFC File

Information about the spaces and zones in the model and their properties is transferred to an IFC file. Standard software delivery includes the Vertex property set Space occupancy requirements which is set for the space objects in the system library, The same property set is also available for zones. If necessary, you can also create your own customer-specific Vertex property set and set it for space objects in your library.

After you define spaces in the building model, you can edit the property sets selected for the spaces or add user-defined property sets. You can add properties that you define yourself to the space, and you can also add these properties to a user-defined IFC property set.

IFC Property Sets

If the building model has furniture or fixture, the program examines the space in which they belong in the IFC export. A link between these components and space is formed in the IFC model.

If you use Solibri Anywhere to view IFC models, spaces are not displayed by default. Select the viewer function Show/Hide Space (Alt+S).

The zone has no geometry in Vertex BD. In the IFC model, the zone appears in the main branch of the structure.
