Update the Thumbnails

You can update thumbnails for a library component that has either a model or a drawing file, or both. The program creates a component thumbnail from the shaded model of the component, with the background of the model white. If the component has only a drawing, the thumbnail is generated from it. The thumbnails are saved as PNG files in the component library's bmp folder.

You can update thumbnails for the entire library or select components to update individually.

Note: Old thumbnails will be replaced with new ones and the changes cannot be undone. If necessary, make a backup copy of the component library folder.
  1. Open the library browser by selecting System | Libraries | Libraries.
  2. In the browser, select a library of the desired type. The library can be a custom library or a building-specific library.
  3. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  4. Select Update thumbnails.

You will be prompted: "Are you sure you want to update thumbnails for all the selected items? Old thumbnails can't be restored."

  5. Select Yes to update the thumbnails.
