Part Data

Define the material data of the part, for the bill of materials in a drawing. The part data is added associatively to an element, which you select in a drawing.

You can select a part number, line, hatch or a macro. If you remove an element later from a drawing, the part data attached to an element is removed also.

The use of part data is defined by the type of attribute database, which is selected when defining part data. Several attribute databases can be in use. You can define different types of attribute data for the same element.

1. On the tab, in the Mechanical group, select Parts List, and select Edit element attribute database.
2. Open the selection of an attribute database type by clicking the button.
   
3. Select the type of an attribute database from the list, PART, for example.
4. Press the button to select an element type, to which you wish to associate the attribute data.

5. Select an element, to which you wish to associate the part data.
6. Fill in the material data of the part in the multipage database window, the data of the PART attribute database, as an example.
   • Basic data - Define the material data of the part: label, description, material and unit. Select the material label in the field.
   • Mass - Define the density value. Material and density can be selected from the item data maintained in the product structure.
   • Profile data - Define the angle data of the profile.
   • You can open the part item data for editing in the item database by clicking the Edit button.
7. Click OK.

Select a macro, and then select the context-sensitive function Edit element attribute database.
