Configuration-specific Item Data into a Parts List

In Vertex, the parts lists of product variants are implemented as a table model which contains configuration-specific item data and table drawings. This subject is also discussed in Parts lists for product variants. The following information must be specified for archived part models and assembly models for a parts list.

  • Create the geometry for the model. The model can be an archived part or assembly, but it cannot be a component. The part geometry can be controlled using a dimension table.

Note that Values of selected variables from list only checkbox is selected when you create the dimension table IDs. Otherwise, table IDs cannot be selected when you define configuration-specific dimension table data.

  • Add the first configuration for the model. In the basic case, a model has only one configuration and only one set of item data. This model configuration is called 0:Basic.

  • Define item data for the first configuration of the model. When adding the second item, you will have to accept the model being changed into a table model. It is indicated in the part and assembly properties by the Table model (multiple items) property being selected.

  • Additionally, you can add dimension table data to the part model's configuration data.

Configuration Data Connected to a Model

  • Define other configurations for the model, and item data for them.
  • You can add the extra parts of the assembly to the 0: Basic. Activate the configuration and select the Extra Parts function. When the assembly becomes a table model, the function in question is disabled in the assembly properties.

  • Create a drawing from the model's active configuration.

Create a New Drawing of a Model

  • Add a sheet to the drawing.
  • Select the Collect Parts List function. The printing of a model's configuration-specific parts list is affected by the following selections in the dialog box: All configurations, Print configuration table and Table drawing.

You can print a configuration table on a drawing containing all configuration-specific items and their quantities. If a drawing is defined to be a table drawing, it uses the table model's item. Additionally, a drawing created as a table drawing is connected to each configuration created from the model.

The Transfer to Product Database selection in the dialog box transfers the structures of all configuration-specific items to the product database.
