Save Model Drawings as DWG or DXF File

This function can be used to output the drawings of a part, assembly or one or more of its parts and/or subassemblies either directly to the printer or into a file in the desired file format. The available file formats are DWG and DXF. If necessary, you can select the drawings to be saved.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Move the cursor over the part symbol in the part's feature tree.

      All of the part's drawings are saved.

    • Move the cursor over the main assembly symbol in the assembly tree.
    • Select a part or a subassembly from the assembly tree, or more than one by holding down Ctrl while clicking with the left mouse button.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Other Exports> Batch Print.
  3. Save the drawings in a different file format as follows. You can select saving as several file formats.
    • Select the As Dwg File checkbox. Click the Browse button to define the directory in which the converted files are saved. Click the Dwg Setup button to define the conversion.
    • Select the As Dxf File checkbox. Click the Browse button to define the directory in which the converted files are saved. Click the Dxf Setup button to define the conversion.
  4. Define the drawings to be saved by selecting one of the following:
    • Click the Selected Item button to save the drawings of the selected part or assembly.
    • Click the Selected Item + Lower level button to save the drawings of the selected part/assembly and the parts/assemblies on the next layer.
    • Click the Selected Item Subtree button to save the drawings of the selected part and all of its layers.
  5. If necessary, select one of the following:
    • Select the Update checkbox to have the geometries of the drawings updated to match the models before saving.
    • Select the Special choice on checkbox to select which drawings to save according to the definitions. When you click the Special choice button, you can enter search terms in the fields as the search criteria to select drawings to be saved of all drawings of a model.
  6. Select OK.
  7. If necessary, you can add a label to all drawings. For example, you can enter a work number as a label. The stamp text is added to all files.
  8. Select OK.
