Define a Section View
With this function, you can define a view from inside the building. The view will be an axonometric projection. You can use this function to create kitchen furnishing drawings, for example. The view is generated directly from the architectural model Model.vxm. The view is defined by two section lines:
- In the plane you select the start and end point of the section line.
- In the vertical direction you select the z coordinate of the bottom of the section and the height of the section.
You can define a mere view, which can be added to any drawing sheet, or you can produce a complete drawing sheet of the view. Define the view as follows:
- Activate the drawing window.
- Do either of the following:
- Select Output | Drawings | Define Cross Section View Define Interior Section View.
- Select the function in the building's document browser:
- Move the cursor on the title Architectural documents / Interior views.
- Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
- Select Define Interior Section View.
- Click the start point of the section line.
- Select the end point of the section line. The Edit View Data dialog box opens.
- Type the label of the view in the Label field.
- Type the name of the view in the Name field.
Spaces are not allowed in the view name, as it determines the name of the drawing sheet as well.
- Select the scale from the Scale list.
- Type the z coordinate of the bottom edge of the view in relation to the floor base height in the View base height field. The default value is -0.1, in which case the line presenting the top surface of the floor is also displayed in the view.
- Type the height of the view in the View height field.
- Confirm by clicking OK. You will be prompted: "Create sheet?"
- Do either of the following:
- If you want to create both the view and the drawing sheet, click
Yes, and do the following:
- Select the drawing sheet.
- Select the location of the view on the drawing sheet.
- If you want to create the view but not the drawing sheet, click No.
- If you want to create both the view and the drawing sheet, click
Yes, and do the following:
Note:
- If you selected to create the drawing sheet, you can later open the sheet by using the function Update and Open a Drawing Sheet. You can add the section view on any drawing sheet by using the function Add a Drawing to a Sheet.
- See also Define an Interior View.
- The template drawing sheets for section views included in the basic software delivery are stored in the ../system/picts/view_templates folder. You can copy the view_templates folder to the ../custom/picts folder or to the building folder .../shared/projects/building_name, and then edit the template drawing sheets.
