Default Entities in the Component Library
IFC Converter
You can set a default entity and type for components in a macro component library. Macro component libraries include, for example, various furniture libraries. As a system administrator, you can edit a customer-specific component library. If you do not have system administrator privileges, you can edit a building-specific library.
When you add a macro component to a model, it receives the default values specified in the component library.
Edit a customer-specific macro component library as follows:
- Open the library browser by selecting System | Libraries |
Libraries. - Open the folder Custom libraries / Components / Macro components.
- Select the desired macro component library.
- Select Edit library content from the right-click menu.
- Move to the row of the desired component.
- Select the IFC tab.
- Click IFC entity type. The IFC Entity Type dialog box opens.
- Make the following selections:
- IFC version - Select the IFC version from the list. The available entity types depend on the IFC version.
- IFC entity - The field shows the IFC entity that Vertex uses for the object by default. Select the entity type from the list under which you want to export the object to the IFC file. The options in the list depend on the selected IFC version.
- IFC predefined type - The predefined IFC type (PredefinedType) under which you want to export the object to the IFC file. Select from the list. The options in the list depend on the selected IFC entity.
- Description for user-defined - A free text field that is available when the IFC predefined type is USERDEFINED. Type a description in the text field.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
The IFC entity type field is populated with your selection in the format:
[IFC version]|[IFC entity]|[IFC predefined type]|[Description if you selected IFC predefined type USERDEFINED]
Note: The default values for components can be overwritten based on entity type rules or object-specific definitions.
