Export a File

You can save the document in the working window in another file format by using the Export function. When you select this function, the Windows Save As dialog box will be displayed.

Converters included in the license are listed in This Software Version, a converter missing from the list is an extra option.

  1. Export a File Press the Ctrl+E keys.
  2. Confirm the default folder or select another folder:
    • The default folder will be the active project folder, if a project is active.
    • If no project is active, the common drawing folder picts will be the default folder.
  3. Select the File type in which you wish to save the document.
    • Vertex 2D Drawings (*.vxp)
    • Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf)
    • AutoCAD Drawings (*.dwg)
    • DXF Files (*.dxf)
    • Binary DXF Files (*.dxb)
    • Scalable Vector Graphics (*.svg)
    • Design Webb Format Files (*.dwf)
    • Binary Design Webb Format Files (*.dwf)
    • Compressed Design Webb Format Files (*.dwf)
    • ME10 Drawings (*.mi)
    • HPGL Images (*.hpgl, *.hgl)
    • TIFF Images (*.tif)
  4. Select Version if necessary.

    For example, the version of a AutoCAD drawing.

  5. If necessary, rename the file.
  6. Select the file and click Save. Select one file at a time.
  7. Depending on the selected file type, make the following definitions:
    • DWG - Select translation using the setup file. If this does not produce the desired result, create your own setup file with the dialog box functions and use it.

    • DXF - Select translation using the DXF.std setup file.
    • MI - Select translation using the MI.std setup file.
    • TIFF - Define resolution, black and write/colored as a file type and file compression method.

Note

  • DWG - When exporting as DWG file from Vertex, line types missing from AutoCAD, will be converted into blocks. These will be displayed similar to the original line. Vertex line types 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 20 and 21 will remain as lines in export.
