Use this function to define settings according to which PDF file is created. PDF profile
specifies how the file is generated. There can be several profiles. Define the data in the
dialog box.
- On the tab, in the Sheet Sets
group, click PDF Print
Profiles.

Page 1
- Profile name
- Name a new profile. This field can not be empty. -TEMP- is reserved name, which can be
used for testing and other temporary use when you do not want to make a profile or change
the old ones. -TEMP- profile is added to the profile database automatically if it does not
exist (deleted accidentally).
- Select Layers
- Defines the layers that are visible. Select either of the followings:
- Layer Group - Accept the default layers or select from a list.
- Layers - Accept all the layers or define specific layers or layer span.Separate the
layers with a comma (,) or give a span with a hyphen (-). For example 1,2,7-10.
- Sheet
- X and Y margins of the sheet of the PDF file are given to X margin and Y margin
fields.
- X margin is margin for the right and the left side of the sheet.
- Y margin is margin for the top and the bottom side of the sheet.
- Size of the sheet of the PDF file is selected in the Size field. Select one of the
following:Ax, A04, A02, A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10.If empty (---) is
selected, size of the sheet will be drawing area + margins.If Ax is selected, size of
the sheet will be smallest A-size where drawing + margins can be fitted.Size of
the A02 and A04 sheets are two and four times the size of A0.
- Sheet orientation
- For the sheet's orientation can be selected Automatic,
Portrait or Landscape.
- If Automatic is selected, orientation is selected based on the
drawing limits. If height of the drawing limits is greater than width, sheet will be
portrait, otherwise sheet will be landscape.
- Drawing
- The option Automatic rotation will rotate drawing according to
the selected sheet. This selection has no effect if orientation is Automatic. (see previous item).
- If drawing limits are horizontal and orientation is Portrait, drawing will be
rotated 90°.
- If drawing limits are vertical and orientation is Landscape, drawing will be rotated
90°.
- In other cases drawing will not be rotated.
- The option Free
scale scales a drawing as big as possible to fit to the selected sheet.
- The option Texts as lines prints the texts as lines in the drawing.
- Position and Off-Page Ref.Links
- The option Make links to reference is used to select if
functional links are made to the position and off-page references in the drawing. In a
large projects this function slows down PDF creation process.
- The option Make
links defines if links to the position and off-page references are marked by
drawing a rectangle around them. This function has no effect if function Make links to
references is not selected.
- Color fills and raster pictures
- Select Color
fills with true color if you want to print in colors. Define the image
resolution. Value 0 uses the original image resolution.
- Penset and pen file (fonts folder) / Default pens
- If the option Use widths is selected, pens use pen widths which are defined
in a PDF settings. If it is not selected, width of all pens will be one pixel. Physical
size of the one pixel line depends on the resolution of the printer.
- If the option Scale widths is selected, the width of all pens will be scaled
in the same proportions as Free scale. If the option Use widths
is selected, this function has no effect.
- Penset which is used is given to the Pen set number field. In the
field File name you can type the name of the pen file saved in the
fonts folder. If you leave the field empty, the default description will be used.
- Screen colors and true line widths are printed with the penset number -1.
- If the option Use colors is selected, pens use pen colors which are defined
in a PDF settings. If it is not selected, color for all pens will be black.
- Texts will be drawn as lines if the option Texts as
lines is selected.

- Description fields
- In a sheet data card and in a drawing data card there are description fields for the
sheet and drawing descriptions. Name of these database fields are given to the
Sheet and Drawing fields.
- To find out the name in the field, do as follows:
- Move cursor to the desired field in the archive card.
- Select the context-sensitive function Database info.
- Descriptions are used in table of contents of the PDF file so, that the names of
description fields are separated with colon after the drawing number.
- Description field contents of the sheet archive card are also added after the drawing
number.
- Drawing number sorted alphabetically
- Drawing number sort functions defines how the drawing numbers are sorted in a contents
(Bookmarks) of the PDF file.
- Sheet numbers are always sorted in a ascending order starting from the first
character.
- With the options A -> Z and Z -> A
selection are for ascending and descending sort order.
- Character from which sort starts is given to the From char
field.
- Links / PostScript files to include
- To the start and/or To the end of contents
of PDF file can be added a link to the Internet page, to local document, for example,
Word, Excel or HTML or to PostScript file, which is attached to the PDF file.
- In the Description field you can enter the header, with which a
link/attached PostScript file is displayed in contents of PDF file.
- Link to the internet page, local document or PostScript file is given in the
Link/File field. Link can be absolute (e.g. c:/psfiles/end.ps or
http://www.vertex.fi/svx ) or reference to the named destination (e.g. EXT1 ) that is
defined in the PDF settings dialog box. Named destination can be selected from the list.
Named destinations has a form: EXT1 (c:/pdf/ps/ps1.ps). After keyword EXT1 there is a
current value of the field in the parenthesis. In the Link/File field can be left the form
selected the the menu: EXT1 (c:/pdf/ps/ps1.ps); the program removes automatically marks
between parenthesis. If link is a named destination, the actual link is read from the PDF
settings database. Named destinations are useful in a PDF batch process application. Batch
process application creates PDF files based on the saved selection files. If the
destination or location of the link changes, it is sufficient to make a change in the PDF
settings database.
- Table of Contents
- The table of contents is not created, if No
bookmarks is selected. The drawing prints out as an image, if As a
picture and base picture is selected.
- Opening mode
- For the opening mode of PDF file you can select one of the following:
1 Bookmarks tab visible, 2 Thumbnails tab
visible, 3 Layers tab visible, 4 Drawing
only, or 5 Full screen.
- Distiller settings
- In the Settings file field it can be entered the name of
Distiller settings file (*.joboptions). For further information see Distiller
Instructions.
- In the Layers profile field it can be entered the name of profile
according to PDF layers are created. For further information see setup Settings keyword
group.
