Dynamic Collision Detection

Collision detection makes it possible to simulate the design for assembly and the actual kinematics of the mechanism. Dynamic collision detection of an assembly visualizes all the individual parts in a model which collide with the part being moved.

Move the part to perform collision detection. Select

  1. Select View and Usage Dialog box.
  2. Select in the dialog box Collision Detection.
  3. Press the left mouse button.
  4. Move the part within the assembly by slowly moving the mouse around. When a collision is detected between the part being moved and another part, it will stop. The part it collided with will be highlighted with a color in the model.
  5. Move the cursor back over the part being moved and continue moving it.
Note:
  • If there are static collision in the model, the dynamic collision detection will not always work properly. First, find collisions and remove static collisions. After then, the dynamic collision detection works properly.
  • The collision detection toggles it on and off when you clear the checkbox.
  • You can choose the parts included in the collision detection by hiding the parts you do not want included.
  • Pipe components are connected to each other by a handle linkage and set-on, and collisions between pipe components will be ignored in collision detection.
