Open a Drawing from a Model

Open an existing drawing for viewing and editing.

Update one model drawing or all changed drawings in a model at once.

Open a Drawing from the Tree

  1. Expand Drawings in the tree.

The drawings that belong to the model are displayed in the tree.

If the model has been edited after the creation of the drawing, the drawing label in the tree will be highlighted in red. The drawing will be updated automatically upon opening.

  2. If the automatic update is disabled, move the cursor onto the drawing in the tree and select the context-sensitive function Update. The drawing will be updated and opened in a window. The color of the drawing will also change in the tree.

If there is more than one drawing to be updated, first select Drawings in the tree, and click the context-sensitive function Update. The drawing can also be updated by pressing Ctrl+U.

  3. Open the drawing by doing either of the following:
    • Double-click the drawing label in the tree.
    • Select the drawing in the tree and click the context-sensitive function Open.

The drawing is updated. Update a Drawing

Note:
  • Enable/disable the automatic update of drawings upon opening. Set the automatic update by using the keyword askupdatedrawings (default 0: automatic update, or define 1: ask user). This will make Vertex prompt the user about the need to update when a drawing is opened. Define the setting in the system settings, Edit Vertex Settings.
