Hide a Part or a Subassembly

You can hide a part or a subassembly when drawing the assembly model. After this, the symbol of the hidden part or subassembly will be displayed grayed out in the assembly tree. The hiding has the advantage of quicker rotation and viewing of the model in the working window.

Hiding using the Hide function

  1. Select one or more part and/or subassembly from the model or assembly tree.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Hiding... > Hide.
  3. If you hide a part pattern, the program will ask whether you also want to hide the subparts.

Hiding with the H key

You can use the H key to hide parts as follows: There is no need to interrupt the function for hiding.

  1. Select the items to be hidden from the model.

    • Move the cursor over a part to be hidden from the model and press the H key. If you wish to hide several parts, select the parts from the model and press the H key.

  2. Select the parts to be hidden from the assembly tree.

    • Select a part, part pattern or subassembly in the assembly tree and press the H key. You can use the H key to hide and restore objects in the assembly tree.

      You can also hide parts when you have selected the part or its sketch for editing.

    • When the part sketching mode is active, the assembly tree is displayed on the background, grayed out. Select a part, part pattern or subassembly in the assembly tree and press the H key. You can use the H key to hide and restore objects in the assembly tree.

Note:
  • If you use hiding function in the middle of such function that requires seleciting parts, the H key hides the selected parts.

Hiding non-selected parts from drafting

This function will hide all parts, except those selected from the assembly, from the drawing of the assembly model.

  1. Select one or more parts or subassemblies to be left visible from the assembly tree.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Hiding... > Hide Others.
Note:
  • You can restore hidden parts/subassemblies with the H key and the context-sensitive function Restore Hidden.

    Restore Hidden Parts

  • A part that contains machining features but is hidden from the assembly, does not machine other parts in the assembly, if Hidden Parts Disabled When Machined is selected.

    Assembly Properties

Restore the configuration's hide state.

You can restore parts or subassemblies by restoring the configuration’s hide state.

  1. Move the cursor to the working window.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Restore Configuration's State.
Note: This function also restores hidden parts or subassemblies if there are hidden parts which are visible in the configuration.
