Part or an Assembly as an Item
You can paste to a new item a part or an assembly. A model will then also be connected to the item.
Create a new item when adding a new document.
We recommend creating an item from an assembly only after the assembly geometry and item structure data exist.
New Item
- When creating a new document
- On the tab, in the Documents group, select New.
- Click Item. Name the label by the Label? button.
- Click the label by double-clicking the Select from the item database. Select the classification: subgroup, and select classification.
- Click OK.
- The model geometry already exists
- Select the Properties function in the part or assembly model.
- Click Item data. Fill in the item data.
- Click OK.
Define the item label and transfer the item to the item database
- Click Item data.
- Create a new item by clicking the Label?
- Do one of the following:
- Accept the document label as the item label.
- Select Select from the item database, and select the label of the item.
- Type the item label in the empty field.
- Click OK.
- Click the Transfer to Items, which moves the item data to the item database as is.
- Click OK.
Note:
- The Item Data button of the part Properties function opens the item and its structure data for viewing and editing. You can move the item to the item database.
- The Item Data button of the assembly Properties function opens the item and its structure data for viewing and editing. You can move the item to the item database.
- You can also create a new item directly to the item database if you open the item database for editing.
